Fire Pit

Chris made a fire pit out back. Cool, huh?

So far, we have roasted marshmallows, cooked hot dogs and warmed up leftover potato wedges on it. Chris and the boys even made a mountain pie.  I was inside with a newborn at the time.  But I look forward to having some tasty meals around our fire pit this summer!

Hot Dog Stock

Tonight we had hot dogs for dinner.  (They were our favorite kind-- Nature's Promise all Beef no nitrates, nitrites, etc.)

Also I made a small batch of chicken stock today.

Well, the chicken stock was cooling on the stove as we were cleaning up from dinner tonight... Chris came in the kitchen, and was quite surprised!  "Why in the world would Janet use hot dogs to make stock?!" 

I didn't.  It was a carrot.  :-P
